The Band Toto Asia
Toto was expanding its production facilities overseas, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. North America was seen as an area of growth for toilets and bidet seats, as opposed its "base" markets in Japan and China.
Dhaniram Toto was recording Toto words to ensure the future generations could comprehend the words. Many words were replaced by foreign words. For example, dui, which is Bengali for verandah was being used.
Origins
Incorporated in 1917, Toto's beginnings mirrored Japan's development. In the first half of 1917, Toto produced products to meet the demands for modern, brand new urban housing. It had the first tunnel kiln in the nation to produce ceramics continuously. It also pioneered the use of automation to control production, allowing for more efficiency and consistency.
In the late 1980s, the company began to expand outwards to benefit from sales and new markets. It established the Cera Trading Company, importing and distributing other products from other manufacturers to complement its own line of plumbing fittings and sanitary earthenware. This strategy helped to increase sales and expand the market share of the company globally.
In the 1990s, Toto began to focus on research and development for water-related appliances. It also improved its distribution system to better meet the needs of customers and increase profits. The company implemented a just-in-time method of managing supply chains, and it used the same method in its sales program. This resulted in a higher level of customer satisfaction.
Toto continued to develop toilet technology. Its latest toilet, for instance, has a strong tornado flush that is more ecologically friendly than conventional toilets. The company also makes use of recycled water in its manufacturing process and has a green purchasing policy. Toto also manufactures faucets, bathtubs and hand dryers with higher energy efficiency than standard models.
The first Toto museum opened in 2015. It has exhibitions on the most iconic products of Toto and their evolution, the group companies (all of which are ceramics), the history of plumbing, and products such as bath units. In a separate gallery you will find Toto products that are sold across the world. The museum also has bathrooms with a washbasin and other toilet innovations.
Before forming Toto members of the group performed session work for various musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all played on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also performed on albums by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
With a name like Asia, you would expect the group to be prog kings and queens however, it's actually a pretty straight forward rock band. The band began as four-piece, and released two albums that were self-titled in 1979 and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. However, even though the group have a variety of musical backgrounds their biggest breakthrough was in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a huge blockbuster, but not without its share of problems. The record companies put the band under pressure to release an album that was a success or else they would pull them. Toto was able achieve this feat with the help of the hit song "Africa."
Toto's musical mastery is a result of their previous experience since the members were session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts before starting the group. Their distinctive sound has become the norm for '80s pop, influencing many modern artists.
This album starts off hard with tracks like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write great AOR songs that slowly build their hooks into your mind. The album also contains jazzier, slower tracks like The Little Things and Chinatown. The album ends with Great Expectations. This song blends folk and distortion AOR which could sound completely wrong but actually works very well.
After Toto IV the band's fortunes began to wane. 토토사이트 left the band to pursue a solo career and the band had several drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band following drug-related charges. The band continued with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.
Toto released Isolation despite the turbulence. It was not as well-liked as IV. The group managed to release an album that was chart-topping, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. The album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was the first to feature a new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up
The album's third, Turn Back, marked an reversion to the classic sextet arrangement of previous albums and was a more powerful, consistent effort that had an edge that was stronger than Hydra. The more edgier sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the maturation in the group. The drummer Bobby Kimball's increasing proficiency was evident in the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. David Paich's keyboard playing was also more sophisticated, sharper and less akin to previous recordings.
After touring to promote their album, the band recorded their Amsterdam live performance that was released by Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between. The group released a new studio album a few months later, and went on a world tour to help promote the album. During this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes filled in for Paich, and bassist David Hungate left the group to spend more time with his family.
In 1998, Paich and Lukather started looking through old tapes and demos for a new record featuring songs that had never been recorded before. It was completed in 2001 and released as a double album titled Then and Now. It was the first album in the band's history not to feature any single song that had the word "A" in its title. It also included one previously not released track, "Kari-Anne".
By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group's fourth album, Old Is New was an uncommercial success and vocalist Williams was suffering from laryngitis that restricted his singing capabilities. In addition, Hungate returned to Nashville as a drummer, and Leland Sklar was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.
Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, the original members of Asia, met in England in the early part of 2006 to discuss the possibility that the band could be revived. This lineup, minus Howe who was working with Yes at the period, was later renamed Toto XIV. They toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band featured a special guest appearance from singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
